@@ SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS @@
=========================
oo IBM/Compatible with at least 320k RAM
oo Hard Drive, preferably 10+ megs.
oo Hayes Compatible modem (Not require for playing game locally)
@@ INSTALLATION @@
==================
To install Tradewars V: Galactic Armageddon..
:First: Create a directory for it somewhere on your hard drive (Sorry, TW
takes up too much disk space to be used on a floppy system, and it was not
configured that way).
:Second: Unzip the archive TW5DAT.ZIP and TWEXE.ZIP in your new directory,
say: C:\BBS> PKUNZIP TW5DAT C:\BBS\TW5
!! DO NOT THROW THESE ZIP FILES AWAY !!
In order to reset the game, you will need the TW5DAT.ZIP file!
:Third: Create a BATch file that will allow you to execute the game. If you
run a WWIV or compatible BBS program that uses "CHAIN.TXT" to read/write info
on External Chains, use the following example:
TW5.BAT:
ECHO OFF
COPY CHAIN.TXT \BBS\TW5 {Copy CHAIN.TXT from current dir to}
CD\BBS\TW5 {the TW directory}
TW /W CHAIN.TXT
CD\BBS {Whatever your BBS root dir is}
EXIT
If you do not use a CHAIN.TXT loader-type, then the following command
line may be used:
TW5.BAT:
ECHO OFF
CD\BBS\TW5
TW 1 2400 1 1800 JOE BLOW
CD\BBS
EXIT
TW CmdLine syntax is:
C>TW <ComPort> <BaudRate> <Ansi 1=Yes/0=No> <Time-In-Seconds> <Name [3 words max]>
Please Note, if the baudrate is over 4800bps, then TW will
automatically attempt to access a FOSSIL driver...MAKE SURE
YOU HAVE A FOSSIL DRIVER IF YOU HAVE 9600 OR ABOVE BAUD RATE!
To run the game locally, substitute BaudRate for "KB" <Keyboard> ae:
C>TW 1 KB 1 1800 JOE BLOW
:Fourth: The original archive has Reset data files, whenever you wish to reset
the game, you may either UnZIP the original archive over the existing ones,
or, provided you have a registered version of TW, hitting "!" at the TW
prompt will reset the game (Must logon as yourself).
@@ WAR CONDITION EDIT @@
========================
The file WARCOND.DAT is a special text file. Using any text editor
you can edit this file to alter the following:
Peace <-- War Condition of the Game
1200 <-- Value of Ore-per-unit in Credits
1000 <-- Value of Org-per-unit "
1400 <-- Value of Equ-per-unit "
The values may be from 1-32767 but it is NOT recommended
that you make it higher than 5000.
Changing war condition may be changed to the following:
(Spelling and Case DOES count)
Peace
Cold War
Limited War
Conventional War
Armageddon
